After Essentials: Our Story Through the Years
The story of After Essentials begins with two friends, united by a shared passion for board sports and nature. Guillaume and Damien, coming from different fields — commerce and digital — came together around a simple idea: to create eco-responsible products that accompany every key moment after a surf session, a ride, or even a rainy day.
From this grew their desire to reinvent the poncho — a practical product often seen as lacking style. By blending functionality with aesthetics, they brought to life a range of ponchos that meet every need and suit every style. After Essentials was born.
The deal was set between the two friends: “If we make €500 in profit from the project the first year, we go out for a great night; €5,000, we go on a surf trip to the Maldives; anything beyond that, we reinvest in the brand.”
Twelve months later, Guillaume and Damien were riding incredible waves in the Indian Ocean, and the second collection was ready to launch. After Essentials was officially off and running…
Our inspirations
Our inspiration comes from a desire to fully enjoy life in all its forms. Surfing and outdoor activities are naturally part of this, as are travel and curiosity — but not only that. We love to smile, laugh, discover, and feel thrills. The joy and emotions we experience while watching a classic film, listening to music, dancing to our favourite songs, or admiring works of art are definite influences on our creative process.
